The Val di Fassa is one of the most picturesque in the entire 1220km Dolomites ski area. There are lots of small villages and towns along the valley floor, many are well-known, others not so much, but all have easy access to the fantastic snow sure skiing. Just down the road from lively Canazei and the Hotel Engel is Penia di Canazei, home to the Neilson Hotel Dolomites Inn. The village is surrounded by the towering snow-capped peaks of Belvedere Mountain and the Marmolada glacier. This is most definitely the place to come if the serenity of the mountains is your form of escapism. Evenings are quiet in Penia but You still have plenty of choice when it comes to nightlife though. Neighbouring Alba (5-10min walk) has a good selection of bars to visit straight off the slopes. Beyond that, Canazei has some great shopping plus plenty of bars, restaurants and a nightclub. All are accessed either by ski bus or taxis which run right up until 4am!
