Corvara in Italy is a chic and vibrant base from which to explore the Sella Ronda (one of the world's most famous Alpine ski routes). It also provides some of the best skiing and accommodation in all of Europe. Neighbouring Badia is a small village just a mile or so along the valley from Corvara. It's a very traditional little place with only a few hotels, but it makes up for it on the scenery front. It's incredibly picturesque and has just as easy access to the 1220km of glorious Dolomites piste as Corvara does. Corvara is an ideal winter retreat for skiers and non-skiers alike. It has a bustling, fun vibe with great après ranging from a quiet aperitivo in a café or tasting a wide range of wines, to attending the infamous 'boot bop' and drinking champagne cocktails all night. Badia is just as ideal for all but much quieter. Head here if you want to enjoy the slopes by day and take it really easy at night. It's simple enough to get around as ski buses and taxi run frequently, but après in Badia is centred around the hotels - no bad thing when you see the choice!
