Les Deux Alpes named - not because it has x 2 mountains as you may presume, but to the high pastures that once belonged to the neighbouring villages of Venosc and Mont de Lans.

It's a bit like a western movie set with a great long road through the valley which has heaps of bars, restaurants and shops either side and the mountains behind the resort either side. The snow sure, varied slopes of Les Deux Alpes cover several peaks as you climb ever-higher towards the highest skiable glacier in Europe at an impressive 3570m. It’s a tall ski area, mostly above the tree line with plenty of off-piste possibilities, including the ominously named 'La Grave' area. There are several terrain parks making it a leading destination for freestyle skiers and boarders. One side has a lot less skiing than the other - its pretty obvious which one it is. There's a good choice for skiers of all abilities and the further up you go the quieter it seems to get. There's a great snow park and snow cross run up the mountain. Tip - check the out Le Pano Bar on the mountain - it's just bonkers and full of mad people - check the images out - we loved it.
