Valletta is the Capital of Malta and is often described as 'A city built by Gentlemen for Gentlemen' (answers on a postcard please?) The city is busy by day and a hive of activity by night giving it that feeling of walking back in time. There's lots to see and explore, historical buildings are around every corner, statues, fountains, churches and of course the magnificent fortress. St John's Cathedral & Museum should be on your bucket list along with the Upper Barrakka, Hastings and Lower Barrakka gardens. Time it just right to see the Saluting Battery at 1145 and 1600 each day.

The best way to get around Valletta & Floriana is on foot, to explore the narrow streets full of tiny quaint shops whilst the main streets are lined with larger international branded fashion and designer shops. There are some wonderful bars and restaurants, go to the places tab above to see our recommendations.
