Malmö - Sweden, is not the biggest city that jumps to mind when thinking of Sweden, & infact Sweden is not on everyones bucket list.

Its actually quite under rated, often visited as a day trip, when theres nothing more to do or see in Copenhagen.

South Sweden is never really considered when thinking of a city break/long weekend especially put up against all the other mighty Cities on our planet, so im here to change that.!

Im not saying to forget Stockholm or Gothenberg but hey, if your in ’Wonderful  Copenhagen’ then pop over to see another country, its so close & rude not to!

Malmö from Cph airport is about 30 mins by car/taxi or 20 mins by train,  over that now pretty famous TV Bridge.... coming into Malmö’s central Station its a short walk to hotels & the center - in other words Malmö is walkable.

Quaint old town Lilla Torg (little square) is the first go to, with bars & eateries, off of here you’ll have Gå Gatan (walking street) shops, some little market stalls etc.

The Swedes are VERY out doorsy, even when theres snow on the ground, they’ll still be on their bikes, of which there are loads,  now electic scooters are the thing....which you can hire from an app on your phone Swedish innovation for you.

Parks are a big thing, and its not unusual to see groups bbq-ing/pickning or hiring your own small motar boat  for a trip along the canals (which is a hoot) OR hanging out on the steps by the edge of the canals.

I dont know of any other city that has an amazing beach as Malmö, heaps of activities happen here, from the adrenaline junkies, wind surfing, sunbathing & a nudist beach, which took me by suprise whilst walking with my parents When i first came h

However if you come in the winter months, you’ll still see people around along the cold wind swept beaches heading into the icey waters, after being in a sauna!burrr ’bonkers’ id say but its a truely Swedish thing to do.

A lot of thought has been put into Malmö’s recent developement over the past 20 years ive been here, & quite honestly its pretty cool & hip what ever time of year.

Malmö is ’cheap-er’ then its other two big cities & Cph, but its not a gulp your beer or wine down kind of place, sip & savor more like. But looking at the £ to the SEK, prices are in your favour (june19).

But what amazes me about the South of Sweden (Skåne) its not all about Malmö, theres sooo much more to see, brilliant parks/lakes/beaches/forests/ & of course the famous Fish smokery eating places all are not that far away from the city.

If you want quaint, then Ystad is where you head to, the home of ’Wallender’  .... you are never too far away from the coastline, ive seen some cracking beaches/coastlines whilst Repping but I’m forever impressed what Mother Nature has created, what ever time of year Malmö & its surrounding areas are quite something, im still discovering, so why not come on over & explore.
