Set in the southwest of Corfu, Agios Georgios is blessed with one of the best beaches on the island.
This beach is so clean, quiet, and beautiful that sometimes sea turtles choose its golden sand for nesting, so be careful when you lay your towels here! Agios Georgios south has two long stretches of golden sand. One is backed by sandstone cliffs covered by reedbed, the other with dunes, and its waters are safe and shallow.
There’s a good selection of tavernas and bars dotted along the road as well as supermarkets and gift shops. Agios Georgios is an ideal base for those who like walking and cycling. A short walk through the olive groves takes you to the quaint 10th-century village of Argirades where life goes on as it has been for years.
Also north of St George is Lake Korision, a nature reserve great for bird watching. Agios Georgios really does have something for everyone.
Some watersports are available on these beaches. It is perfect for families and couples looking to spend happy, lazy days in the sun on the sands.
