Description

Located in the north east corner of Greece the peninsular of Halkidiki provides some of Greece's most untouched, yet startlingly beautiful scenery and offers an authentic slice of traditional Greek life. One of the best-kept secrets in Greece.

Despite its relative isolation, this three-pronged peninsula that juts into the Aegean Sea, boasts endless sandy beaches, quaint picturesque villages, with a wealth of historical treasures to explore from Byzantine to Roman

The three peninsulas include Athos to the east and with Mount Athos towering above, it is home to some startlingly spectacular scenery as well as around twenty monasteries. Sithonia, in the middle, is regarded by many as one of Greece's hidden gems, boasting a more rugged appearance, with numerous secluded sandy beaches and home to rolling pine clad hills. The most westerly peninsula of Kassandra features most of the region's resorts such as the purpose-built resort of Sani, which has numerous bars, cafes and restaurants set around a modern harbour and is surrounded by lush green countryside. With crystal clear waters and a near perfect sandy beachKalithea is an ideal place for families with an abundance of watersports available as well as a great choice of bars, restaurants and tavernas. The view across to the hills of Sithonia is also breathtaking. The bustling resort of Hanioti is perfect for anyone looking to immerse themselves in traditional Greek life. The main village square is home to a number of typically Greek tavernas as well some music bars. The long stretch of beach also provides some great watersport opportunities.

Many gold products can be found in the three coloured Cartier styles. There are many styles of ceramics to be found in the area. As well as the gold-plated style, you can find the red and black style that is found all over Greece. For wool products, Arnea in the Holoman Mountains is the place to go to see the ladies of the village busy spinning and weaving the handmade Flokati rugs, carpets and tapestries.

Holidays in Halkidiki provide a perfect combination of sand and shingle beaches running the length of the Kassandra peninsula bordering the crystal clear waters of the Aegean as well as spectacular scenery which all provide excellent walking trails. The perfect destination for those in search of tranquillity and traditional Greek life. For the more active, Halkidiki also offers great sporting and watersports opportunities along the Kassandra peninsula as well as limitless places of historical importance to explore across this heavenly region.
